To whom it may concern:

Ahem!!

Two years ago when I was in college and paying $65 worth of monthly pass, I was furious to discover that UBC and SFU students were given U-passes that were very cost-effective to their budget while many other students like me who didnt attend such a prestigious institute were shut out and left hanging.

WHAT WAS THE DEAL??!!!

So in the summer of 2007, the Langara Student Union petitioned about the injustice of it all and thus a vote insued. After the ballots were cast and counted, the majortiy voted in support of the U-pass. Long story short, all Langera Students are now entitled to a U-pass.

However, the downside of this issue is that everyone has to pay. What this mean is that if your a student who drives to school, YOU HAVE TO PAY AS WELL (that's on top of paying for your tuition, books, gas, plus parking)

As of summer 08, all langara student have to pay $152/semester = 3 semester/year.

And that my friends is the story of how I am a newly cardholder of the precious U-pass even though I am not a UBC/SFU student.

Love,

Gladypuss

Yeah, this seems pretty lame.

Also, 65 dollars? Are you serious?

The 152 seems way off. I don't think we're paying nearly that much. Something like 93 dollars per semester. (Translink wants to give 1.5 raise next year though)
